YouTube tests gesture feature for 2x playback speed

YouTube is currently testing a new gesture feature that will allow mobile users to switch playback speeds between standard and 2x speed. To use the feature, simply long-press anywhere on the video player while watching a video. The playback speed will automatically increase to 2x. To return to standard speed, simply lift your finger.

The feature is currently being tested in the YouTube beta app, which is available for both Android and iOS. To get the beta app, you can sign up for the YouTube beta program on the YouTube website.

Once you have the beta app, you can enable the 2x playback speed gesture by going to Settings > Playback > Gestures and turning on the Long press to watch at 2x option.

If you’re a fan of watching YouTube videos at 2x speed, this new gesture feature is a great way to save time and get through your watchlist faster.
