NFT Support

Instagram began rolling out support for NFTs in May 2022, and by July 2022, the feature was available to creators in 100 countries. However, on March 13, 2023, Meta announced that it would be winding down support for NFTs on Instagram and Facebook. The company said that it was “winding down digital collectibles (NFTs) for now to focus on other ways to support creators, people, and businesses.”

When NFT support was first rolled out, users could only display their NFTs on Instagram. However, in August 2022, Meta expanded the feature to allow users to share their NFTs as stickers on their stories. To do this, users would need to link their digital wallets to Instagram.

The NFT support on Instagram was met with mixed reactions. Some users were excited about the opportunity to display and share their NFTs on the platform, while others were skeptical about the value of NFTs. Ultimately, Meta’s decision to wind down support for NFTs suggests that the company was not seeing the level of adoption that it had hoped for.

It is still unclear what the future holds for NFTs on Instagram. Meta has said that it is “keeping an open mind” about NFTs, and it is possible that the company will revisit the feature in the future. However, for now, NFT support on Instagram is no longer available.
