Meta, the parent company of Facebook, is also planning to revamp the main feed on Facebook

Meta has been facing increasing competition from TikTok, which has become the go-to platform for younger users. In order to attract these users back to Facebook, Meta is planning to make a number of changes to the main feed, including:

  • Focusing more on personal posts from friends and family. This means that users will see fewer posts from businesses and news organizations, and more posts from the people they care about.
  • Making it easier to discover new content. The new feed will use machine learning to recommend posts that users might be interested in, even if they don’t follow the person or page that posted them.
  • Giving users more control over their feed. Users will be able to choose which types of posts they want to see, and they’ll be able to hide posts from people or pages that they don’t want to see.

It’s too early to say whether these changes will be enough to attract younger users back to Facebook. However, Meta is clearly making a concerted effort to change the way the platform works, and it will be interesting to see how these changes are received by users.

In addition to the changes to the main feed, Meta is also planning to launch a new short-form video platform called Reels. Reels is similar to TikTok, and it’s designed to attract younger users who are interested in watching short, entertaining videos.

It’s clear that Meta is facing a challenge in attracting younger users. However, the company is making some bold moves in an attempt to turn things around. It will be interesting to see whether these changes are enough to win back younger users, or if Facebook will continue to lose market share to TikTok.
